Milanese Bending Spoons are making history by buying yet another Silicon Valley company, Eventbrite, for 500M. Do we have a chance to attract not only retiring Americans and tax-optimizing Brits, but also become a new world’s tech hub? Time will tell, but this week - all eyes on Italian tech news.
Last week, I had the opportunity to host a panel on the Experience Economy at the Como Ventures Launch event, and the quality of the companies attracted and the guest list surprised me. Something is brewing. 2026 for the Lake Como area will be interesting, I can tell you that much.

The Como Ventures Launched: Hollywood stars, Football Match and Tech
What’s Happening: Como Ventures, launched by a local football club, Como 1907, and The Players Fund, just had their Launch Event.
Facts:
The Chief Revenue Officer of the Club highlighted that this is not a PR activity for Como 1907, but a serious fund that is planning to grow significantly in the next years.
Event was private. The guest list was international, from companies like Apple, Revolut, Uber, Eight Sleep, etc.
Entrepreneurial Hollywood stars Chris Pine and Michael Fassbender made the headlines joining the guests at the football match that finalised the day’s activities.
4 startups were selected:
Wayla Italia - The first city van-pooling service in Italy (we all know we needed this in Lake Como)
Connectome - brain health and performance tech
Collecto - luxury collectables platform
Eoliann - extreme climate events forecaster.
What does it mean for us:
The event made the headlines with its Hollywood guests, was streamed by etn., and got high exposure on socials. Startups in comments are already asking if they can apply next year. The tech ecosystem will be growing.
The type of startups they picked is a roadmap for how Lake Como might evolve. Van-pooling (Wayla), brain-health tech (Connectome), climate-risk forecasting (Eoliann), luxury collectibles (Collecto). They point to a future Lake Como that is:
better connected and more liveable (mobility, climate resilience),
more premium (luxury, collectibles, experiential spend),
and more data-driven (athlete performance, risk models). For us, that hopefully means rising demand for quality property, better services, and a higher bar for what “being on the lake” looks like in the next 5–10 years.
