Knight Frank just published its newest Wealth Report 2026. Overall, last year’s wealth trends are continuing, with some new asset classes and locations unexpectedly emerging.
Facts:
HNWIs are moving more than ever (to avoid new taxes). This creates a massive rush for "turnkey" homes that are fully finished and ready for move-in.
Residential Growth. Global luxury home prices grew 3.2% in 2025, with Tokyo jumping to 58.5% in 2025 due to high demand and limited supply.
US Market Dominance: The United States generated 41% of all new UHNWIs over the last five years.
Real Estate Funding: Private investors deployed US$464 billion into commercial real estate in 2025, outspending institutions at US$347 billion.
The Knight Frank Luxury Investment Index (KFLII) ended 2025 down just 0.4% , indicating the market has stabilized (there was a sharp decline lately).
And yet, wealthy consumers are moving toward the "transformation economy," prioritizing wellness and personal growth over just acquiring goods.
Art Market Surge: Impressionist art sales soared 80.4% in 2025, highlighted by a record US$236.4 million Klimt sale.
Vintage Haute Couture: Identified as a new investment sector gaining significant traction among younger demographics.
What does it mean for us:
Lake Como has lately been in the spotlight of those types of reports.
Globally, HNWIs want turnkey homes and lifestyle-first living, accelerating transactions, lifting prices, and raising the bar across the board.
Locals divide into 2 camps: those who want to bring back the old way of living around Lake Como, and those who adapt to the change, use the momentum, and build things. Not much in between.
